It’s time to FIGHT one more time as news comes today via Deadline that New Line Cinema is moving forward with the anticipated sequel to the absolute carnage of entertainment that is MORTAL KOMBAT!
Accomplished screenwriter Jeremy Slater has been hired to pen the script for the Mortal Kombat sequel. Notable works of Slater include writing the screenplays for various successful series’ including Umbrella Academy, Marvel’s Moon Night, Death Note, and Fox’s SUPER underrated Exorcist series who he also helped to co-create beyond the screenplay- speaking of which I’m still pretty salty about that cancellation.
Details surrounding the plot of Mortal Kombat 2 are still under wraps, but the conclusion of the first film, which was released both in theaters and on HBO Max early last year, teased that there would be more to come in the future- with the biggest hint of MK legend alumni Johnny Cage coming into play. Although, I think we can assume the majority of the cast from the first film will make a return.
Welp. I’m pretty excited about this. What say you? Stay tuned as more details unfold!
